Clearwater, Florida. Spring training has started out on a sour note for the Philadelphia Phillies. One of their catcher prospects was arrested for DUI by Pinellas County Sheriff. Dane Sardinha is a four year league veteran that has bounced around between the Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds. He has a minor league deal with the Phillies and is one of seven catchers at spring training. This DUI arrest certainly does not help his chances of making the team.

Sardinha was booked into jail around 2:00 a.m. and then released just after 8:00 a.m. He did participate in workouts and will continue to do so until the Phillies announce any disciplinary action.

Very interesting article! It seems as if DUI charges are becoming more common as the years go by. It’s a sad issue and I hope it’s rectified soon by providing drivers with information on the negatives of driving while intoxicated.
