Gallup, New Mexico – October 31, 2007. It was an un-happy Halloween for Leroy Yazzie of Gallup, New Mexico. Yazzie was swerving out of his lane of travel when police noticed his silver Buick.

During the traffic stop Yazzie produced an odor of intoxicants from his breath and had the ever incriminating bloodshot eyes (See previous post about eye evidence). Police also found various beer cans in Yazzie’s Buick.

Even though Yazzie has been arrested for 7 DWIs he still participated in the field sobriety tests. Most lawyers, by your eighth DWI, would advise you do not take the field sobriety tests. In Washington State the field tests are completely voluntary and no one should perform the field tests in any situation.

Back to Yazzie. Did you notice above I mentioned he was arrested 7 DWIs before this arrest? Number 8 people. New Mexico please lock this guy up for as long as humanly possible. I sure hope New Mexico has a felony DUI law. Leroy Yazzie is a danger to any community.
